General Phung Quang Thanh, Politburo member, Defence Minister, received Mr. Simon Wong Wie Kuen, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam who has ended his term in Vietnam.

At the reception, held on July 26th in Hanoi, outgoing Ambassador Simon Wong Wie Kuen stressed that Vietnam and Singapore’s friendship and cooperation ties had seen new developments, especially in the field of defence and security.

He also highly appreciated Vietnam’s great efforts in establishing close relations with countries in and outside the region. He thanked Vietnamese Defence Ministry for creating favorable conditions for him to well-fulfill his missions during his term in Vietnam.

For his part, General Phung Quang Thanh highly spoke of the Ambassador’s contributions to boosting Vietnam-Singapore cooperation and friendship in various fields, including defence cooperation.

General Thanh congratulated the guest on his new post as Deputy Foreign Minister of Singapore. He wished that as a Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Simon Wong Wie Kuen would continue his active contributions to the development of the two countries’ ties in the future.
