Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has ratified the Project on establishing a Migrant Resource Center (MRC) in order to promote safe and sustainable labor migration from Vietnam.
The project is sponsored by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs through a non-refundable aid of US $107,533.
The objectives of the project are to assist the Vietnam’s Department of Overseas Labor (DoLAB) with developing and delivering direct services to migrants through the MRC with outreach and awareness-raising activities in areas of high emigration.
Staff of DoLAB and the Vietnam Women’s Union will be trained in providing integrated migrant support services and relevant information to prospective, actual and returning labor migrants in order to maximize the benefits and minimize the risk of migration.
The Center, which will be located on the premises of DoLAB in Ha Noi, will receive additional funding from the Vietnamese government.
The project will also foster the exchange of good practices in providing comprehensive migrant support services between Viet Nam and other Asian countries.
