Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the Vietnam Family Development Strategy through 2020 with a vision to 2030.
The newly-approved strategy aims to increase the awareness of the role, position and responsibility of families in the society.
The strategy targets to raise the number of cultural families to over 80% by 2015 and 85% by 2020; and reduce domestic violence and social evils by 10-15% a year; and encourage parents to spend more time to take care of their children.
Mass media is tasked to better disseminate policies on family building, living skills, and men’s responsibility for families.
